2016 Lincoln Day Dinner April 30th 2016

Annualy, the Linn County Republicans host a Lincoln Day Dinner. This year's speaker is David Jacques, publisher of the Roseburg Beacon. We all know that media outlets can have different perspectives when they report the events of the day. David had a front row seat to the events surrounding Barack Obama's visit to Roseburrg after the tragic shooting on the campus of Umqua Community College.
Book your reservations early. As we have done in the past, we have an early bird discount. Why wait?

We have a silent auction and other opportunities to contribute to the Linn County Republicans in this importatnt election year.

Legislature is in Short Session in 2016

During every Legislative session, please do what you can to contribute your comments to legislators on the bills that are of interest to you. When you give you feedback, it is important to make constructive suggestions wherever possible if you are in opposition to all or part of a bill. It may not possible for our Senators and Representatives to stop every bill you oppose. In some instances, the amendments you suggest may make a great improvement in a bill that is going to be passed with an opposition majority.

Take the time to send your thanks and words of encouragement from time to time. It's hard work being a Republican in a legislative minority.

Precinct Committee Person NEW PAGE

We have many open positions and would like to have as many people as possible as Precinct Committee persons, but all are welcome as volunteers. Since we have past the May 2014 election, remaining PCP positions are appointed.

We meet regularly at Pop's Branding Iron, typically on the first Wednesday of the month at 6 pm, earlier if you want to socialize and catch up with old friends. Please check the Events page for possible exceptions around holidays.

I am a Republican Because..

I BELIEVE the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person's dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.

I BELIEVE in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all; regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability.

I BELIEVE free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.

I BELIEVE government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.

I BELIEVE the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations and that the best government is that which governs least.

I BELIEVE the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people.

I BELIEVE Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.

I BELIEVE Americans value and should preserve out national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world.

FINALLY, I believe the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.

Article of interest: America's Ruling Class
We have staked the whole future of our new nation not upon the power of government; far from it. We have staked the future of all our political constitutions upon the capacity of each of ourselves to govern ourselves according to the moral principles of the Ten Commandments.
James Madison
